About the Role

The Senior Data Quality Analyst role will require you to combine your experience spanning complex data analysis, collaborating with other data practitioners and business stakeholders to understand the business problem and drive adoption of identified opportunities for data quality uplift and risk mitigation. 

 

The Senior Data quality Analyst will play a critical role in partnering with our stakeholders to uplift non-financial risk driven by data, supporting them with your knowledge of data risk and the Enterprise Data Risk Framework, Standards and Policies. 

 

This role will be highly analytical; an advocate for change; comfortable with ambiguity and have adaptability to pivot and deliver in alignment with an evolving business environment.

What will your day look like?

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within our Division, within the Data Portfolio, as well with our partners spanning Enterprise Data Risk, Technology, Digital and within other divisions.

  • Help ensure data is organised, managed and leveraged within Australia Commercial to meet obligations, help the Business and achieve great outcomes for Customers and Bankers.

  • Source data from a variety of sources to combine, synthesise, analyse and identify root cause of complex data quality issues/data gaps.

  • Address and solve complex business issues using large amounts of structured and unstructured data.

  • Manage data quality issues and Identify and implement tactical and/or strategic remediation solutions as appropriate.

  • Support multiple teams in Australia Commercial with the delivery of data outcomes – including understanding requirements, mapping, analysing, and supporting process and process evolution resulting in high quality data.

  • Manage - and at times lead - activities and issues to drive business value with data as a focus.

  • Input to the strategic evolution of Data Risk theme for Australia Commercial and help communicate the benefits of industry leading data practices.

  • Maintain a robust approach to Data Quality, Reference and Master Data, Policies, Standards and Obligations reviews, Records, Privacy and Ethics management.

  • Support mapping and cataloguing data elements and data assets and addressing any data quality shortcomings identified in our divisions data.

  • Delivering against committed milestones.

  • Identify and address constraints that hinder progress, escalating as appropriate.

  • Ensure ANZ's core values are always maintained in dealing with staff, colleagues and customers.

What will you bring?

  • 9 plus years of overall data domain experience with strong exposure as Data Quality Analyst.
  • A team player with strong communication and presentation skills. and able to work autonomously and own deliverables end-to-end.
  • Able to frame data in context of business outcomes that benefit our Customer and Bankers.
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving capability; ability to interrogate data and translate insights into practical business recommendations.
  • Data analysis, modelling and any architecture and engineering experience, including some hands-on knowledge and experience with tools and techniques for analysis, data manipulation and presentation (e.g. Python, SQL, Excel, SAS, VBA, Tableau)
  • Experience with Data Warehouse and ETL (Extract Transform Load) concept (e.g Knime, Python, SAS).
  • Ability to challenge and reframe approaches to data management, automating and orchestrating processes.
  • Experience identifying, analysing and resolving data quality issues.
  • Experience executing activities with Agile in mind, as well as investigating facts to support business cases from a data perspective.
  • Experience in executing aspects of a data management or governance agenda.
  • A highly collaborative approach, with strong stakeholder engagement skills - encouraging sharing of knowledge within and across teams.
  • An appreciation of aspects of compliance and operational risk, including understanding data quality and data protection / privacy management practices.
  • Experience with various data management capabilities advantageous:
  • Understanding of metadata and data lineage
  • Designing for data simplification
  • Defining and leveraging data assets
  • Defining and applying Accountability for data
  • Understanding of the data lifecycle
