MillerKnoll’s Summer Internship Program is a paid, 12-week opportunity that provides a 100% real-world experience for students early in their careers. Throughout the summer you will apply academic learning to real-world situations and cultivate leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Data Science Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data analysis, problem-solving, and learning new techniques. This role offers the opportunity to work on real-world data science projects and contribute to the development of data-driven solutions within a collaborative and innovative environment.

What You'll Do 

Data Collection and Cleaning:

  • Assist in gathering data from various sources such as databases, APIs, and other platforms.

  • Perform data cleaning, pre-processing, and transformation to ensure data quality.

Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA):

  • Conduct EDA to uncover insights and trends within the data.

  • Visualize data patterns and present findings to stakeholders.

Model Development and Evaluation:

  • Assist in developing and fine-tuning machine learning models to solve business problems.

  • Help evaluate models using appropriate metrics and assist in optimizing their performance.

Support on Data Projects:

  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers on ongoing projects related to predictive modeling, clustering, or classification tasks.

  • Assist in creating dashboards, reports, and other visual tools to communicate insights.

Research and Development:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and tools in data science and machine learning.

  • Participate in research to explore new methodologies and innovative approaches to data science problems.

What You Bring 
The needed skills and experience for this role include... 

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python. Prior experience with R is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of probability theory, statistical analysis, and their applications in data science, including experience with hypothesis testing, distributions, and regression models.

  • Experience with version control and GitHub.

  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries like scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow, or PyTorch, XGBoost or LightGBM.

  • Familiarity with Generative-AI and Large Language Models.

  • Experience with SQL for querying databases.

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly.

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university, and able to provide transcripts upon request.

  • You must have a GPA of at least 3.0 (overall or within your program) to qualify for consideration in the Intern Program.  

  • Must have satisfactorily completed basic coursework in the chosen degree program.   

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.  

  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.

A starting compensation range for this role is $16.40 - $20.75. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors . You may also be eligible to receive a geographic premium, annual discretionary incentive and equity awards which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
