What to expect in this role

Our client is an international leader, the biggest in the world, in payments processing technology servicing all types of businesses – big and small, online and traditional retail outlets.

The company’s financial products include credit cards, ATM processing, merchant services, rewards and fraud prevention.

They specialize in delivering online payment services to our customers and we are looking for Engineers to join our team to take it to the next level. They are unique in the world and put us firmly beyond what the competition can deliver.

Operating within a collaborative Agile environment, we aim to deliver effective solutions to the business and our customers using our evolving payment platform.

Application teams will supply requirements and artefacts. You’ll help the solution move through various environments by troubleshooting and fixing issues, creating and deploying engineering artefacts using Ansible, Terraform and Helm as appropriate to ensure consistency of delivery.

You’ll need to meet with application teams to accurately determine their requirements and meet those using the range of technologies within the platform; while ensuring that we meet standards on operational items like HA & DR, monitoring; and that security aspects are all considered to ensure compliance with regulations.

You’ll attend agile team planning sessions and provide input on implementation and design aspects.

Qualifications and Tech Proficiency

We cover a wide range of technologies, and know that no one is expert across them all, but a good mix of the following experience will make a strong player in our team:

• On-premise Middleware and application servers: Apache Tomcat, Springboot, Weblogic Oracle Fusion Middleware

• Automation frameworks and configuration management - Ansible first, but Terraform and Helm are useful; Bash scripting and Python is a bonus.

• Linux, and to a lesser extent Windows Server

• Good knowledge of web protocols and troubleshooting HTTP and TLS, certificates and authentication.

• Knowledge of networking: Load balancing, VLANs, firewalls

• Identity and access management services

• AWS infrastructure services around VPC management, ELB, TGW & Direct Connect; but also knowledge around other AWS services such as EC2, EKS, S3

• Git commands, Jenkins and associated release management tooling

• Kubernetes, Docker and Openshift, container registries and SDN.
