Oracle offers a comprehensive and fully integrated stack of cloud applications and cloud platform services.The Cloud Technology Specialist will engage with selected high-opportunity customers to ensure their first experience of ADB is as positive as possible. There are three activities that the Cloud Technologist will focus on :
- Supporting customer in the selection of the best target database service for modernisation to database cloud
The Cloud technology Specialist will work with the customer to install and run the Estate Explorer tool, and will also help the customer in interpreting the results and selecting the best target service for the planned databases - I.e. for each database to have a recommended best target of ExaCS or ADB.
This will also include supporting the customer in building a TCO model that will demonstrate the overall value of a move to OCI, and also the specific additional value of moving to ADB.
The specialist will also perform basic enablement of pre-sales teams on the OEE tool installation and usage.
- Supporting ADB pilots and PoCs as part of an Estate Modernisation
The Cloud technology Specialist will support customers who are running an ADB pilot/PoC as part of a larger estate modernisation plan. Their role will be in addition to the pre-sales organisation and the Cloud Technology Specialist will only engage where specific barriers have been identified that cannot be resolved by the usual pre-sales team
The specialist will also support the customer in advising the customer on how applications can be adapted for ADB where such changes as necessary. These changes will be limited to database, network, connectivity and similar issues, the specialist will not be involved in writing code for the customer.
The Specialist will work closely with the account team to ensure that all activities are aligned with the account and opportunity strategy, but will additionally work to build confidence in ADB within the account, This will include evangelising ADB with the account team, building a catalog of the customers’ database estate and building a migration plan and prioritisation model.
- Building and communicating best practice for Database Modernisation to Cloud
The Cloud Technology Specialist will be a key contributor to the best practice documentation for Database Modernisation to Cloud. The contribution of the specialist will focus on technical ADB related best practice including modernisation approaches for ADB, ADB work-arounds for ADB differences and ADB management best practices.
Using the best practice documentation, the specialist will help the customer understand best practices for ADB migration and support the technical integration of the customer’s application with ADB. This includes ADB related aspects of security, performance, data integration, MAA, connectivity, network and landing zone best practices.
In your role supporting customers, you will engage directly with customers, supporting their installation and use of the tools built by the team. You will also be involved in enablement of Oracle employees in use of the tools, and how to use the tools to support customer migration assessment and planning.
As an extended member of our dev team, you will be involved in definition and testing of features in our tools.
The role will also engage directly with customers when customers are trialling ADB to support customers in ADB best practice, recommended migration approaches and to help the customers remove any technical barriers or challenges encountered during initial migrations.
