Closures Technical Centre, a division of Magna International Inc., is focused on the design, development and testing of Mechatronics products for the automotive industry.  We are currently looking for a student in Mechtronics Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science for a 4-12 month co-op placement, starting on January 6, 2025.

Your Responsibilities

  • Generally assigned to software processes, automations, internal applications, electromechanical systems, existing business and/or minor modifications
  • Supports the complete development for the designated products including, but not limited to design, build and test activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process
  • Build internal analytical and software tools to streamline engineering processes to support large volumes of projects
  • Supports customer requirements, regulations and product specifications into the design of the designated products, ensuring compliance with operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility parameters
  • Analyzes products and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools
  • Consults and collaborates with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements
  • Supports global CAE activities as a global team
  • Supports effective communications within the project team and the customer, supplier, manufacturing and quality communities with guidance from engineering management or senior engineering personnel. Maintains all appropriate documentation
  • Understands and follows existing policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements

Who we are looking for

  • Developing communication skills: verbal and written
  • Developing organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines
  • Be able to adapt to a fast-changing environment and work with a team
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design and analyses processes
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects
  • Experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, MATLAB, C++, C#, VBA, JavaScript
  • Experience with high, and low, level object oriented and functional programming
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Basic understanding of Machine Learning is an asset
  • Experience with SQL databases is an asset

Your preferred qualifications

Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics engineering, Computer Science or related fields from an accredited university
