The role
As part of a high performing team that provides a unique data analysis capability, you’ll be at the heart of planning and decision making for the UK nuclear submarine programme. This exciting role requires a team of individuals that operate in a collaborative, fast paced, complex and changing environment where they have a significant positive impact on Royal Navy’s operations. The team develop concepts and software for business-critical models and use them to undertake analysis and provide executive recommendation to key stakeholders. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be operating in a close-knit team responsible for developing and operating the models in support of demands from the business, including defence customers and Babcock’s Devonport, Clyde, and Bristol operations. This role will offer opportunities to:

 

  • Learn, design and operate the modelling analysis tools that emulate and optimise complex business operations
  • Undertake model development and analysis to answer specific strategic business questions to support crucial enterprise decision making
  • Develop strategic operational domain knowledge, and use it to create intelligent analysis and optimisation to support investment  business cases and operational programming
  • Develop and analyse Babcock’s supply response against the client’s submarine availability demand
  • Develop optimal concepts for reporting analytical outputs for all levels of stakeholders across the enterprise

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week. Due to the need to work closely with the customer and on SECRET networks based in Bristol, the incumbent will be expected to work out of North Bristol. There is a need to work 5 days a week onsite, with flexibility where business needs allow to work from home by exception. 

 

Essential experience of the Data Analyst:

  • Experienced or has a suitable background within a fast-paced, dynamic and changing software development and data analysis environment utilising Python or R.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and undertaking complex modelling
  • Strong numeracy, logic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent team working and willing to proactively engage the wider business and senior stakeholders to support outputs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate at all levels.

 

Qualifications for the Data Analyst:

  • Relevant degree or strong relevant academic background
