The dynamical system section at DTU Compute is looking for postdoc researchers to join projects that aims on digitalization of the energy sector and contribution of demand response programs in energy efficiency. The projects provide innovative and sustainable solutions for energy production, distribution, and consumption, to improve energy performance in buildings, support renewable energy resources, and add value to demand side management by introducing and commercializing new opportunities for flexibility. The projects will involve stakeholder engagement across EU and dissemination activities to ensure the success and sustainability of the project outcomes.

You will become a member of the dynamical systems group, working alongside colleagues with diverse backgrounds. Your primary role will be to contribute to project tasks that demand a deep understanding of electrical or thermal energy system operation and dynamics, modelling approaches, and optimization methods. To excel in this role, you must possess an understanding of the rules and regulations of electricity markets and grid services. The projects details will be disclosed to the shortlisted candidates during the interview process.

Responsibilities and qualifications
As a postdoc researcher in this group:

  • You will be designing and developing solutions for modelling, operation, and control of energy systems,
  • You will conduct research on new methods and technologies to integrate exiting tools and models into ongoing projects.
  • In collaboration with your colleagues, you will engage in project management activities and funding applications related to your field of research.
  • You will work in close collaboration with academic and industry partners.
  • Contributing to ongoing activities within the group.
  • Contribute to students’ supervision. 
  • You are expected to contribute to publishing the project results

A successful candidate will have a solid background in the following points: 

  • Research experience in energy systems dynamics,
  • Strong background in modelling, optimization, and control approaches in energy systems,
  • Research vision and potential
  • Familiar with machine learning techniques
  • Background in programming tools such as Python and Julia,
  • Self-motivated and highly independent
  • Internal and external collaboration
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Good ability to present results in oral presentations, and prepare scientific papers for publication in international journals

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 year starting from 1 January 2025 or according to mutual agreement.
