Why this job is important

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our London team. This hybrid role involves occasional office meetings, with a focus on data analytics and machine learning projects. You will collaborate with the Lead Data Scientist to support business machine learning initiatives, maintain and enhance existing models, analyse data for actionable insights, and contribute to the development of new machine learning solutions. 

What you’ll be doing      

  • Design and implement machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Assist in maintaining and optimising the performance of existing models. Identify and address weaknesses or bugs through data analysis.
  • Support API development and integration related to data and machine learning models. Collaborate with the development team to ensure seamless data flow and functionality.
  • Analyse large datasets to extract meaningful statistics and patterns. Translate these findings into actionable business decisions.
  • Work with the developer team on data and statistics-related tasks to support various projects, using Agile or Kanban methodologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand key questions and provide actionable insights that support decision-making.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical team members and stakeholders.
  • Create visualisations to monitor trends and define KPIs.

The skills & experience needed as a Data Scientist

  • Experience in data science role, including tasks such as database queries, machine learning programming, and data mining/wrangling. 
  • Proficiency in a programming language, e.g. Python, with experience using Git.
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with databases like Redshift, Postgres, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and concepts, including regression, K-means, decision trees and neural networks. Some experience with generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
  • Experience with ETL processes and cloud services (AWS or Azure)
  • Experience with API development or integration is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to quickly learn new domains.
