Introduction to the job

We are currently recruiting for an internship located at our office in Wilton, CT.

This position is for a Module Production Engineering Intern with innovative attitude. Intern will provide support to the optical sensor production engineering team including data analysis, procedure writing, factory floor troubleshooting and continuous improvement projects.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Intern will provide support to the optical sensor production engineering team including data analysis, procedure writing, factory floor troubleshooting and continuous improvement projects.

  • Spending time in the Cleanroom providing direct support to production processes and troubleshooting and time studies when needed.

  • Spending time in an office environment working on continuous improvement and process development for production.

  • Providing support to troubleshoot/improve optical alignment and metrology issues, module test and final quality issues,  manufacturing tooling and optical metrology equipment issues.

  • Performing image analysis on data and derive conclusions.

  • Developing OCAPs, Fishbones and troubleshooting guidelines.

  • Evaluating and dispositioning failed parts with proposed solutions.

  • Supporting development of Manufacturing procedures and technical work instructions,  design and document reviews.

Education and experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's of Science, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics

To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following skills:

  • Able to read optical and/or mechanical drawings.

  • Knowledge of Code-V and /or Zemax, MATLAB, LabVIEW and Python a plus.

  • Knowledge of diverse optical metrology setups: Interferometers, Shack – Hartmann sensor, polarimetry/ellipsometry & Optical alignment a plus.

  • Knowledge of geometric optics, wave optics, Gaussian propagation, and aberration theory a plus.

  • Knowledge in image/signal /data process algorithm, statistics and software development a plus.

  • Can observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work.   

  • Can learn and apply new information or skills.  

  • Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.

  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy, and maintain cooperative working relationships with manager, co-workers and customer.  

  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines.  

Other Information

This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, training courses and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration, and innovation

  • Working around lasers; working with ladders; working on platforms; and working around chemicals.

  • The employee is occasionally required to move around the campus.

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • May require travel dependent on company needs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
