Job Description

The Powertrain System & Advanced Engineering department is responsible for mechatronic and control system development involving combustion engine, hybrid, electric, and fuel cell vehicles. We work with vehicle manufacturers and internal business groups to industrialize proof-of-concepts for advanced powertrain systems. 

This internship will support vehicle requirement evaluation to help guide powertrain development for xEV applications. In addition to your technical expertise, we are looking for future engineers who can clearly and simply communicate complex technical concepts, and who can effectively collaborate with a global team. You will:  

  • Analyze future powertrain concepts & technologies, assess the impact of regulation, and understand the market trend  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct vehicle-level simulations for various vehicle application scenarios & powertrain topologies 

  • Validate simulation models against real-world test data to ensure accuracy and reliability 

  • Generate insights by post-processing & visualizing simulation results 

  • Share knowledge by clearly articulating work and ideas to customers, managers, and key decision makers 

  • Proactively provide feedback in a timely manner to the team 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  1. Currently pursuing or completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering or related technical field with at least one semester completed. 

  2. Clearly demonstrable work experience, project work, or coursework related to automotive simulation and analysis (e.g., vehicle dynamics, vehicle system, or powertrain system) 

  3. Programming skills: Matlab or Python 

  4. Minimum 3.0 GPA 

Additional Preferred Skills and Background: 

  1. Programming experience in one or more - Python, SQL and R; including common data science libraries  

  2. Experience of C++ and/or Matlab 

  3. Experience with machine learning and implementation  

  4. Working knowledge of automotive systems 

  5. Knowledge of data processing and analysis
