Director of Data Analytics and Strategy

 

  

Summary:

Cantaloupe Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Data Analytics and Strategy to lead the development and execution of our data, integration, and analytics initiatives. In this role, you will spearhead the strategy for managing both structured and unstructured data while leveraging tools such as Tableau, Azure, AWS, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. Your analytical leadership and curiosity will drive data-driven decisions to improve operational efficiency, drive revenue and business performance. 

 

The ideal candidate for this role is a critical thinker who thrives understanding a complex ecosystem of product end points (devices & services), multiple product SaaS platforms and technologies and can envision analytical solutions around complex revenue, customer and operational business process opportunities.  The ability to interact with C-level executive as well as perform detailed data analytics with teams like Sales, Account Managements and Operations, and Technical Support teams is also a key ingredient for a successful candidate.

  • Experience and domain knowledge working payments with major payment processors and all card brands is a plus as Cantaloupe is a significant operator in the micro-payment space of unattended retail. 
  • Experience working with data and databases at significant scale, both for product as well as transactions.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

Data and Analytics Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data analytics strategy that aligns with Cantaloupe’s business objectives.
  • Lead initiatives for sourcing, integrating, and managing data from multiple systems, ensuring scalability and alignment with emerging technologies. 
  • Drive data-driven decision-making across the organization to enhance business insights and revenue opportunities.

Data Governance and Operations:

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure the quality, integrity, and security of data.
  • Oversee the integration of data across various platforms and ensure seamless management of both structured and unstructured data.
  • Implement and manage data storage systems using Azure, AWS, and SQL-based technologies to support accurate and efficient data processing.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead a dynamic team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Set clear performance objectives, provide mentorship, and conduct regular evaluations to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Work closely with IT, product, and business teams to identify data needs and develop solutions that meet organizational goals.

Innovation and Technology Integration:

  • Champion the adoption of innovative technologies, including AI and Machine Learning, to enhance data analytics capabilities.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and technology experts to leverage advanced algorithms for data management, cleansing, and analysis.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement in Cantaloupe’s data strategy.

Stakeholder Engagement and Vendor Management:

  • Act as a liaison between internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure data strategies meet business requirements.
  • Drive alignment across teams by promoting the use of shared data integration platforms and enabling APIs for easy adoption.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure all data activities comply with security and privacy regulations.
  • Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for data management processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: Proven track record in data analytics leadership roles, with hands-on experience using Tableau, Azure, AWS, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and managing structured/unstructured data.
  • Skills: Strong expertise in data governance, AI, Machine Learning, and driving cross-functional data strategies.
