Data Engineer - Hamburg

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Measurement and Data Science team. This role is located in our Hamburg (Germany) office, and we value in-person collaboration and as such we are an office-first team with some flexibility and occasional remote work when needed.

At Funnel, we work in cross-functional teams and put a strong emphasis on team collaboration. Together with your peers, you develop and take responsibility for your specific part of the product. Learning is central to us, and we use both qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate features and discover opportunities.

Our tech stack consists of:

• Python

• Apache Spark (PySpark)

• AWS (e.g. Redshift, EMR, ECS)

• SQL

• DBT

What you will do

You will join our data engineering team, responsible for developing and maintaining the data pipelines required to make our products deliver value to our customers. You will work closely with our data scientists to provide the datasets they need and with our software development team to make the results available to the product interfaces.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for everything from implementation, deployment, and monitoring, and we expect you to follow engineering best practices.

Furthermore, you are good at solving problems and making sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, using the proper data structures and algorithms. Likewise, you approach tasks with pragmatism, favoring incremental progress.

Furthermore, you are comfortable in a pair programming environment where you openly share your knowledge, and mistakes and ask for help.

Skills and Experience

- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering.

- Experience in Python and PySpark.

- Deep understanding of SQL.

- CI / CD experience.

- Cloud infrastructure experience (we use AWS).

- Hands-on experience in agile teams and ways of working.

- Fluent in English.
