General Notes

This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.

Purpose

We are seeking to hire a part-time Research Associate to analyze -omics data, particularly RNA-Seq, for bacterial pathogens and host-pathogen interactions. This includes analysis of bacterial and host gene expression using existing software packages and the implementation of additional software as needed. The Research Associate will work collaboratively with members of the laboratory in designing experiments and analyzing data and will train others in using the software and interpreting the results.

Responsibilities

RNA-Seq data analysis.
Development of Python pipelines for data analysis.
Statistical analysis of research data.
Implementation of additional software programs as needed for the research projects.
Training laboratory personnel in use of omic software and interpretation of data.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, data analysis, or computer science and 2 years experience. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in analysis of RNA-Seq data, familiarity with -omics analysis software, experience in analysis of Shigella and Vibrio -omics, teaching experience.

Salary Range

$22,500
