The Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions’ (CHS) Biomedical Informatics (BMI), Health Informatics (HI), and Biomedical Diagnostics (BMD) undergraduate and graduate programs seek part-time Faculty Associates and Academic Associates to teach courses or provide instructional related support for the 2024-2025 academic year and beyond for both in-person and online courses. Through coursework and research opportunities, our degree programs provide students with a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of biomedical informatics, health informatics, and biomedical diagnostics. While we seek to fill positions in all areas of BMI/HI/BMD, the following topics have a higher priority in our current search:

  • Android App Development for Biomedical Applications
  • iOS App Development for Biomedical Applications
  • Software Engineering in Biomedical Informatics
  • Database Design and Management in Healthcare
  • Biomedical Data Science
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Healthcare
  • Foundations of Biomedical Informatics
  • Computational Genomics
  • Python Programming for Biomedical Applications
  • Biomedical Modeling and Knowledge Representation
  • Deep Learning for Biomedical Data Analysis
  • Natural Language Processing for Biomedical Data Analysis

These positions are part-time, non-benefits eligible, semester to semester contracts based on the dates of the sessions/courses assigned. Subsequent semester assignments may be offered at the discretion of the college and university based on teaching performance, student course evaluations, and course availability and enrollment. 

Responsibilities for the faculty associate positions include course instruction, course development, and mentoring of academic associates. Responsibilities for the academic associate positions include supporting the instructor with the various activities related to the course development, delivery, and assessment such as development of course materials, grading of the various assignments, exams, and projects, giving lectures, holding discussion sessions, teaching for recitation sessions.

Qualifications

Faculty Associate Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field
  • Experience teaching or related professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and staff in a multicultural environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching courses in biomedical informatics, computer science, computer engineering, health informatics, biomedical diagnostics, biomedical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience using online learning platforms for course instruction
  • Experience managing course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level, including development of course content, lectures, assessments

Academic Associate Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience supporting course instruction such as grading, student engagement, and outreach
  • Demonstrated ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and staff in a multicultural environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Teaching assistant experience at the undergraduate or graduate levels
  • Student mentoring experience 
  • Experience managing course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level, including development of course content, lectures, assessments
