Job Description

Legal and General’s Group Data and Analytics department are hiring for a Data Engineer on an initial 12 month fixed term contract to deliver technical aspects of projects, ensuring solutions are designed, built and implemented effectively across the three sub functions of the department.

Working closely with the data analytics, Gen AI and Data Science teams you will be responsible for hands on development, engaging in modern data engineering practices to enrich and manage the company's data solutions, including cloud-based data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and the delivery of value to the business.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Ensuring solutions developed are compliant with GDPR, meet business requirements, adhere to internal quality, documentation standards, and deliver intended value
    • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders, providing advice and guidance on data solutions to improve their knowledge and understanding
    • Taking responsibility for the timely delivery of data solutions to the business, aiming for automation and standardisation to support business requirements
    • Continuously developing processes for efficiency and performance improvement, ensuring code is scalable, portable, and reusable
    • Ensuring familiarity with IT controls and adhere to them as part of the solution development life cycle (SDLC).
    • Working within an agile delivery framework, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data solutions to the business that align to requirements
    • Providing input into team and project planning activities, converting user stories into technical tasks
    • Consumer Duty accountabilities - Engage stakeholders and undertake and appropriate testing prior to the implementation of any system or business changes to ensure the impact on internal stakeholders and customers is understood

    Qualifications

    Who we're looking for:

    • Proficient in database technology, including cloud platforms such as Snowflake
    • Highly proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell
    • Familiar with modern project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
    • Understanding of dimensional/schematic modelling and design
    • Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT, and data management practices
    • Proven ability to communicate clearly and logically, tailoring language and tools to suit the audience
    • Demonstrated experience in data engineering, including hands-on development with relevant tools and technologies
    • Experience in defining and documenting data solutions, including complex dimensional models
