Job Description:

Develop machine learning parameterizations for ocean models, implement those parameterizations in the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM), and assessing the machine learning algorithms in the HYCOM model for the Gulf of Mexico.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop computer codes and running computer models (70%)

Present results in scientific conferences and scientific journals (15%)

Assist the PI in developing funding proposals (10%)

Other duties as assigned (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Oceanography, Fluid Dynamics, or related field. Proficient in programming languages including Python, FORTRAN, MATLAB and R. Working experience with ocean models and graduate training in oceanography. Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application in oceanography.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Oceanography or Fluid Dynamics and 5 years experience working with large eddy simulation models, the HYCOM model and HPC system.
