The Department of Chemistry at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Modeling of Protein Structure and Function.  The PI desires an applicant that can lead an independent project focused on ATP-dependent translocation mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 nsp 13 helicase, perform molecular simulations, analyze data, provide updates on research progress during group meetings, write scientific manuscripts for peer reviewed journals, disseminate research at national conference (oral/poster presentations) and assist the PI in writing grant proposals. 

Lab management responsibilities will include, managing day to day responsibilities in running the McCullagh lab.  These responsibilities will include, but at not limited to, assisting the PI in providing technical supervision of one or more graduate students, mentor and train new graduate students, mentor and train undergraduate students conducting research projects, be responsible for routine operations in the laboratory including computer maintenance, and data storage.  This position may be eligible for remote or hybrid work schedule; however, any offer is contingent upon the approval by University Human Resources in consideration of Oklahoma State University policies, labor laws, and suitability to the work of the position/department.  If remote work is approved, the employee may not have an office on campus.  You will be expected to be reachable via phone and digitally.  Much of the group communication will be on slack which you will be required to have open and respond to regularly (check at least once per hour) during normal working hours.  Additionally, travel to Stillwater will be required twice per year to facilitate in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are a PhD in chemistry or biochemistry or biophysics along with familiarity with biomolecular simulation, data analysis, python coding, statistical mechanics, and/or machine learning.  A record of scientific output (peer-reviewed publications) and strong writing and communications skills are also required.
