Description

The Jones Lab at Georgetown University uses innovative techniques to map greenhouse gas emissions both locally and around the world. The lab is actively engaged in sensor development, field work, and the analysis of data from satellites and aircraft. The lab is hiring 1-2 Postdoctoral Research Associate(s), who will work with Professor Taylor Jones on projects such as:

  • Developing new statistical methods for the interpretation of atmospheric greenhouse gas data from satellites
  • Designing, building, and operating novel environmental sensors for basic research and science communication
  • Creating web-portals and visualizations for complex data
  • Building models and sensors for the estimation of ecosystem carbon exchange in urban and forested environments.

Candidates will be expected to contribute to collaborative projects and to help build the newly established lab. Candidates will have the opportunity for conference travel and to build their research experience in a way that supports their career goals. In addition, they will be part of a vibrant and growing community of Earth and environmental scholars at Georgetown University.
