Job title: Business Intelligence Developer

Location: Hybrid – Minimum of 1 day per week in Manchester, M22 office

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + benefits

Focus of the role:

We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Developer with a strong background in developing and maintaining data analysis solutions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Data & Analytics and driven to deliver tangible improvements to our business through innovative and efficient solutions. You will be eager to expand your expertise and grow your career within BCN, contributing to our dynamic and expanding technology team.

In this role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Azure data technologies, and SQL to deliver data-driven insights that empower BCN to make informed decisions across all levels of the organization. Your deep understanding of Data Warehousing methodologies, in particular SQL first solutions, coupled with your ability to quickly adapt to new technologies like Microsoft Fabric, will be critical in driving our analytics capabilities forward. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of the BCN Business Intelligence Team, where you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge internal capabilities and establishing industry-leading analytics practices.

As a member of our Business Intelligence team, you will be integral to the company’s daily operations, helping to shape the future of our data strategy.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to ensure the BI roadmap is delivered on time and meets business needs.
  • Gather, understand, and translate departmental reporting requirements into actionable insights.
  • Develop reports and dashboards within Power BI, ensuring alignment with business requirements and best practice UI/UX principles.
  • Expand and maintain the measures within the BI Analytics cube to support evolving business needs.
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and transformations to ensure robust and reliable data flows.
  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to support various data and reporting projects, delivering tailored solutions that drive business value.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying new knowledge to enhance our BI capabilities.

Requirements

Person, Skills & Experience:

  • Self-Starter with Team Collaboration Skills: Confident in working independently on complex projects while also being an effective team player, contributing to roadmap execution and governance processes.
  • Power BI Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in developing advanced Power BI reports and dashboards, including data modelling, DAX, and best practice visualization techniques.
  • Data Warehouse & ETL Knowledge: Strong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts, ETL processes, and experience working with Azure Data Factory and other Azure data services.
  • SQL Proficiency: Proficient in SQL and T-SQL for querying, data manipulation, and optimization, with a solid understanding of database structures.
  • Educational Background: BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in data and analytics roles.
  • Data Concepts & Analytics: Proven understanding of data concepts, including data modelling, data governance, and advanced analytics techniques.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability & Learning Agility: Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and tools, such as Microsoft Fabric, staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and quality of data, reports, and processes.
  • Project Management: Basic understanding of project management principles, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Experience with Data Security & Compliance: Awareness of data security best practices and relevant compliance standards, ensuring that data solutions adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
