Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Investment Reporting Data analyst will be overseeing the investment data collation, validation, analysis, reconciliation, reporting and maintenance of the investment repository within the Group Reporting and Insights department (GRI) of Old Mutual Limited.
Key Result Areas
Preparing and supporting the quarterly and annual OMLACSA SAM Regulatory submissions in respect of the Investment Asset reporting requirements
- Preparing and supporting the quarterly asset reporting extracts and reconciliations for IFRS reporting purposes including AFS investment disclosures
Preparing the quarterly and annual Investment Asset extracts for non-OMLACSA entities
Accountable for data analysis and reconciling investment asset reports and exceptions per data provider
Acquire data from various data sources and combine & transform data into interpretable datasets and reports
Process, cleanse and verify the integrity of data used for reporting purposes
Supporting ad-hoc asset requirements to other external (e.g. S&P, IAIS, etc.) and internal (Actuarial, Tax, GTBSM, etc.) stakeholders
Preparing the asset reporting extracts and reconciliations for quarterly SARB reporting purposes
Preparing analytical reviews to explain movements in investment asset data
Preparing the biannual report of commonly held investments managed across the various OML asset managers
Manage, collate and review the business unit information used to split investment assets by product category and retail/ institutional business
Understanding data issues and assisting with resolution thereof to improve data quality
Understanding and assisting with the implementation of new investment reporting requirements
Responsible for the daily shareholding disclosure reporting (s122 of the Companies Act)
Responsible for maintaining the team timetable (e.g. data provider deliverables, internal and external deadlines, etc.)
Responsible for maintaining the Legal Entity Database on behalf of the Balance Sheet Reporting team
Liaising with external consultants where development is required.
Updating the process and controls process for the investment repository where necessary and signs off on updates from the investment data administrator
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience required
B.Com/Business Science degree
Minimum 3-4 years relevant experience within financial services
Investment data analysis and/or investment reporting experience advantageous
Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Oracle/ HFM/ Infostore)
Proficient in the use of Excel
Experience working with investment data in various data sources and databases
Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets
Understanding of regulatory and financial reporting requirements
Knowledge of SAM and SARB regulatory requirements will be an added advantage
