Would you like to join the AI Technology team at IONOS (1&1 Internet), Europe’s leading cloud and web hosting provider? We are building a platform that provides AI solutions to customers worldwide, from GenAI / LLM inference, to model training, vector databases and much more!
We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer with strong data science skills for our AI & ML Products Team,  Cloud platform, which provides GenAI and Machine Learning Services to customers in IONOS Cloud.
In this role, you will:

• Drive the implementation of AI/ML models in our cloud platform that will provide API -based access to AI services to our cloud customers, as well as internal clients and IONOS Group brands;
• Understand use-cases and identify the best suitable models for training or pre-trained ones;
• Select and test models in the area of GenAI, foundation models, LLM according to business needs and industry trends;
• You advise colleagues from various business departments and collaborate to develop solutions in the areas of forecasting, classification, recommender systems or the use of GenAI/LLMs;
• Deploying those models into production with common or proprietary frameworks;
• Be part of a cross-functional team and work closely with Product Owners, Architects to define the best technical solutions that match our product vision;
• Collaborate with an international organization of software developers and AI enthusiasts.

• You have experience in developing classic models and use them in applications in the area of Computer Vision, Text (NLP), Audio and / or Forecasting in Cloud environments;
• You have passion and always up-to-date with industry the for foundation models: GenAI, LLMs, text2image, spech2text, and so on;
• Experience with specific tools like Jupyter notebooks, Kubeflow, MLflow and more;
• You have software development experience in Python or R for building ML / AI applications exposed via REST APIs;
• Experience with continuous delivery on cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes;
• Studies in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning or a related field;
• Good written and verbal English skills. 

Would be a plus:

• Product-oriented development mindset and a responsible ownership attitude towards software components;
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, systems resilience, concurrency, and scalability concerns;
• Full-stack development skills are appreciated;
• Openness to take new approaches, learn new concepts and technologies;
• An open collaboration approach and transparent communication.

About the team:

The AI & ML Products Development department is responsible for building the platform for ML Services products for IONOS Cloud customers, as well as other companies in the United Internet group. Our most recent product development features integration of GenAI foundational models, LLMs and others. We run foundational models on prem in our cloud, such as Meta’s Llama, Mistral or StableDiffusion and offer them via APIs to our cloud customers.We are also working with classic ML models for Computer Vision,  NLP, audio/voice  processing & predictions. Our team is working with technologies such as HugginFace frameworks, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, vLLM, notebooks, MLflow and others. On the platform side, technologies: GoLang, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Python, Hibernate, SQL (PostgreSQL and MySQL) and NOSQL (Redis, MongoDB). We deploy everything to cloud-native Docker / Kubernetes environments, making use of GitHub + Actions, ArgoCD, Prometheus, and other modern cloud technologies.You will work together with a creative and innovative group of people that love experimenting and learning new things.
