We are very excited to be recruiting for this vacancy, which is part of our journey towards a more sustainable hydropower and other renewable storage technologies. You will report to our Head of Innovation in the Hydropower Business Unit and play an important role in the development of our sustainable energy production and asset management tools. You will be based in Lausanne. 
 
Your main responsibilities

  • Conduct energy, environmental (Carbon Impact and LCA) and revenue analyses for investment projects using various optimization models.
  • Develop optimization models to enhance the economic and environmental value of projects.
  • Create predictive models based on econometric tools and machine learning.
  • Use and develop energy analysis and planning models using commercial or open-source tools.
  • Program tools for estimating unplanned and planned outages costs using stochastic and robust optimization methods.
  • Create stochastic simulation models applied to the energy sector.
  • Participate in or lead national or European research projects.
  • Supervise interns in the aforementioned areas.

 

Your profile

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar educational background (minimum MSc level) with a major in optimization and/or ML/DL.
  • At least 5 years of experience in academics or renewables industry in conceptualizing and coding energy and/or process optimization, simulation and forecasting tools
  • Excellent Knowledge of Energy conversion processes, optimization and Forecasting (Time Series and DL based).
  • Good Knowledge of Life Cycle Cost Analysis
  • Strong development skills (Python required, MATLAB and/or R a plus)
  • Good communication skills, ability to influence and work with technical teams with other Engineering backgrounds and other functions across the business 
  • Proficient in French and English, German skills are a plus
