About the team/About the job
In the Ads department, we are responsible for creating solutions that facilitate advertising for our advertisers and enhance the return on investment in advertising. This, in turn, allows sellers to grow their businesses in Poland and other markets within the Allegro group. We take pride in the fact that the products we have built are experiencing a 40% YoY growth. Therefore, we are looking for new team members to help us build solutions and architecture to support such dynamic expansion. We are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Team Manager to lead a team of several engineers (Backend and Frontend). You will be working on automated campaigns often in collaboration with ML teams. Together with the team, you will oversee all aspects of product development, from ideation (in collaboration with Product Managers) through development, ending with deployment and maintenance of operational solutions. We are continuously working to expand the capabilities of our solutions in line with Allegro's expansion. Currently, the team is distributed across three cities, with the majority of members residing in Poznań and Warsaw.
We are looking for people who
- Want to take care about merchant domain and take responsibility for their team’s development, have excellent communication skills, and value the "servant leadership" approach as we are
- Have the ability to manage and build relationships in a team of skilled engineers
- Can listen, motivate and provide constructive feedback as well as select adequate development activities for their team
- Have good prioritization skill, are familiar and not afraid with making difficult decisions in the name of product and company
- Have the ability to convince others when discussing business and technical solutions inline with the best market practices
- Are experts in software development, operational excellence and modern system architecture
- Are fluent in JVM technologies and want to learn new ones
- Have ambitions to use cloud technologies and Kubernetes
- Have experience in leading teams working with the use of "agile" methodologies
- Can look for effective solutions to the requirements of our users
- Are able to work closely with the business (can reconcile technical and business issues)
- Can present the necessary technical work in the context of business risks
- Expect work that has a deeper meaning (not only the "management has commissioned") and wants to enjoy its results, are looking for mastery
- Want to be proud of the technical solutions their team creates. They eagerly share knowledge during code reviews
- Enjoy constant developing and updating their knowledge necessary to stay on top in the constantly changing product environment
- Know English languages on at least B2 level
The following are also a plus
Having hand on experience in working with
- highly complex system using microservice architecture
- event driven, high volume, real-time system
would be a great advantage.

Your main responsibilities
- building high available complex software architectures,
- building the team of engineers to efficiently deliver business value through technical work,
- developing team’s members by taking into account individual preferences and needs to achieve mastery and autonomy while fulfilling the purpose of employee and the organization
- being a partner to Product Manager in the product development journey and project
- reporting team initiatives progress and risks to the senior management chain
- driving cross-team initiatives and collaboration to develop development and organizational processes
- budgeting reporting (headcount allocation to business initiatives; integration, training, recognition budget usage and plan)
