Udemy is headquartered in San Francisco with global offices in Australia, India, Ireland, Türkiye, and other US locations. Our robust hybrid work model spans San Francisco, Denver, Ankara, Dublin, Mexico City and Melbourne.   This hybrid position requires two days per week in the office at the nearest hub.   About You As a Data Scientist on the Udemy Business Analytics team, you are a skilled professional with a solid foundation in predictive analytics and data science methodologies. You excel in extracting actionable insights from data to drive strategic decisions and enhance revenue growth. Your expertise lies in applying advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems. You are eager to work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions that drive business success.   About this Role
The Data Scientist plays a crucial role in supporting the Customer Success and Sales teams through advanced data analysis and predictive modeling. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to drive revenue growth, reduce customer churn, and enhance operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Manager of Data Science, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that drive business impact.   What You'll Be Doing   Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, supporting synergy across the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Customer Success and Sales teams to provide data-driven insights and support decision-making processes.
Predictive Data Science:
  • Develop and implement advanced predictive models and forecasting methods to drive revenue growth and optimize business processes.
  • Apply causal inference methods to evaluate the impact of business initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
Operational Excellence:
  • Optimize data management processes and workflows to enhance operational efficiency and data quality.
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for sales development and customer success, leveraging predictive analytics to drive actionable insights.
Revenue Growth:
  • Utilize predictive modeling techniques to assist in monitoring the sales pipeline and analyze relevant metrics to provide actionable insights.
  • Support ongoing analysis of customer retention and revenue trends, leveraging advanced statistical methods to identify opportunities for growth.
Analytical Support and Proactive Insights:
  • Evaluate business performance using advanced statistical techniques, contributing to the identification of root causes and providing proactive data-driven insights to stakeholders.
  • Assist in making recommendations to improve business productivity and performance, leveraging predictive analytics to identify leading indicators and mitigate risks.
What You’ll Have
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field, with a focus on data science, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data science, with a demonstrated ability to apply advanced predictive modeling techniques to drive business impact.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python for data analysis and automation.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning, with knowledge in causal inference methods, forecasting, regression, and time series modeling.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, with an understanding of best practices for dashboarding and visualization.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • A tech-curious mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies to stay at the forefront of data science innovation.

Actual compensation for this role is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and specific work location due to differences in the cost of labor.
