Principal Data Scientist – National Salary £70,000 - £95,000. London Salary £85,000 - £110,000.

Aviva are looking for a dynamic Principal Data Scientist to support our Retail team! An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our high-profile data science team. The insurance industry is evolving in an age of rapid technological development, and as an organisation Aviva are investing in strengthening machine learning and analytics as a distinctive capability. The team is recognised as a centre of excellence in our Global Data Science Department – providing new data-driven insights that improve decision making across the Aviva Group.

A bit about the job:

You will be working with stakeholders across the Personal Lines business to lead on the execution of innovative data science solutions to drive better business and customer outcomes for our Retail business.  You will build an excellent understanding of the business, its strategy, and its objectives.  You will lead a team focussed on delivering solutions to support those objectives and exercise license to be creative in exploring new and innovative ways of generating value from data.

The ideal candidate will also have experience of designing, building, and implementing data science solutions within the Pricing & UW Analytics field.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • A track record of solving complex non-routine problems preferably with expertise in some of the following areas: Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning & AI.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - able to communicate complex ideas in an understandable way often to non-specialists.

  • Good commercial acumen skills and can think and act strategically.

  • Ability to deliver projects, working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, or external suppliers.

  • Highly numerate and/or educated to degree or postgraduate (MSc) in a field such as Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science would be an advantage for this role.

  • National Salary £70,000 - £95,000. London Salary £85,000 - £110,000. (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
