The Position

We are a rapidly growing healthcare technology company seeking a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer. Reporting to Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for delivering on reporting data engineering initiatives towards our SaaS product roadmap. Working with engineering leaders and your peers, you will be a senior leader on our BI development team, designing and developing configurable embedded reports and dashboards. The role partners very closely with Product Management, Architects, technical leads, and lead/principal Software Engineer(s) from other teams.

The reports that you and your teammates deliver generate actionable business and clinical insights for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Responsibilities

• Deliver creative, innovative, configurable, multi-tenant BI dashboards hosted within a web-based SaaS solution
• Perform as a senior leader on a team of BI developers to deliver on multiple projects in parallel
• Drive the development of data analytics, including but not limited to report creation, data mining, and data extraction
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business units to design, develop, and maintain advanced Tableau dashboards and reports that effectively communicate complex data insights to stakeholders
• Work through an agile software development lifecycle, from concept to launch
• Collaborate with architects, principal engineers and technical product managers to analyze functional requirements, devise architecture designs that provide reports with real scalability, low latency, and high availability
• Partner with the data engineering team to integrate Tableau with various data sources, ensuring data accuracy and implementing necessary data transformations
• Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve reporting/data issues
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and offshore developers
• Show resilience and flexibility in navigating uncertainty and embracing new challenges in a startup environment
• Develop secure and high-quality production code. Review / debugs code written by others
• Ensure operational readiness of the services and meet the commitments to our customers regarding reliability, availability, and performance
• Create and maintain documentation for developed Tableau dashboards, data models, and processes
• Stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends, leveraging them to drive platform innovation

Who You Are

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, leaning more heavily on interactive report and dashboard development
• 5+ years of BI development experience with proficiency in the Tableau suite of products
• Back-end experience with any of the leading databases (Oracle, SQL server, MySQL, Postgres etc. – Snowflake preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field involving coding, or equivalent technical experience
• Excellent communication skills to narrate data driven insights and technical approach
• Experience with Agile software development (e.g. scrum, Kanban)
• Experience in a fast-paced environment with enterprise class software release experience as well as SaaS based short, quick product life cycles
• Great energy and passion – must be comfortable in a rapidly changing dynamic environment
• Experience working with Bug Tracking tools such as JIRA

Preferred:

• Passion for Agile Methodology
• Experience with AWS services, particularly cloud native development
• Back-end experience with Python, flask/Django
• Experience in healthcare
• Familiarity with HIPAA/SOC/HITRUST requirements
