The Data Platform Manager will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s data infrastructure and architecture. This role requires a blend of technical leadership and operational strategy, with a primary focus on overseeing the overall architecture that supports the company’s data needs. Additionally, this position will manage and collaborate with outsourced development teams, ensuring that they align with the business's security and design policies.

The individual in this role will ensure the scalability, security, and efficiency of the data ecosystem while integrating with broader business objectives. Expertise in cloud data platforms, architecture design, and data governance is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Data Platform Manager role is positioned within the Data Services department, which oversees all data-related applications across the company’s global divisions. This includes a broad range of responsibilities, from big data solutions and data warehousing to business intelligence, analytics, and data science, ensuring seamless integration and support for the organization’s diverse data needs.

  • Design and maintain the overarching data architecture, including pipelines, data lakes, warehouses, and integration points.
  • Lead the architecture design for big data systems, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Develop strategies for effective data governance, ensuring data quality, consistency, and compliance across the organization.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced development teams, ensuring smooth project delivery, clear communication, and alignment with business needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors to assess their capabilities, establish performance benchmarks, and ensure adherence to SLAs.
  • Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and budgets for outsourced development activities.
  • Act as a technical advisor to leadership, making recommendations on technology, tools, and processes to optimize data management and analytics.
  • Lead the development of long-term data infrastructure roadmaps.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and logging systems to ensure visibility into data operations and system performance.
  • Regularly evaluate system performance and recommend optimizations to ensure data architecture is efficient, secure, and aligned with the latest technologies.
  • Develop and manage disaster recovery, data retention, and archiving policies.
  • Ensure all data systems adhere to relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Lead efforts around data security, privacy, and access control policies, ensuring best practices are applied consistently.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between technical teams and business units, translating technical language into business terms.
  • Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and analytics teams to ensure data infrastructure supports evolving business needs.
  • Create documentation and best practices to support data architecture and operations.

Required Experience

  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Data Architecture Expertise: Extensive experience in data architecture, design, and implementation; strong understanding of best practices, common pitfalls; ability to quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Data Management and Analytics: Strong knowledge of reporting, analytics, and database usage; solid grasp of database design theories.
  • Cloud Technologies: Proven experience with cloud platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud); managing cloud data platforms.
  • Data Platform Management: Expertise in managing, optimizing, and troubleshooting data platforms and architectures.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Excellent vendor management skills; experience collaborating with external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Technological Proficiency: Expertise in SQL, Python, or R; strong experience with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop) and programming languages like Scala; in-depth understanding of ETL/ELT processes and tools; experience working with semantic layers and data modeling tools.
  • Data Warehouse and BI Expertise: Strong understanding of data warehouse design methodologies; experience creating user-friendly reports and dashboards for end users.
  • Security and Compliance: Excellent understanding of security principles, data governance, and data modeling techniques; ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Methodologies: Good understanding and practical experience in Agile delivery methods and frameworks.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; ability to present technical ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Documentation and Technical Writing: Proficient in producing high-quality technical documentation, including requirement specifications, data architecture diagrams, and operational guides.
  • Problem Solving and Execution: Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and execute them in high-pressure environments; taking ideas from inception to delivery.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong ability to work within a team-oriented, collaborative environment; maintain autonomy and independent decision-making when required.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality and discretion at all times. All Endeavor employees are required to sign a confidentiality agreement, and any breach of this agreement will result in immediate disciplinary procedures
