Grad Intern - Machine Learning/AI

What You Will Do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will have the exciting opportunity to innovatively apply advanced AI/ML and data science techniques to real-world pharmacological challenges. Candidates should have a strong background in machine learning, AI, and data science, with a keen interest in applying these techniques to biological systems and mechanistic modeling. Responsibilities could include:

  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to design and develop AI/ML workflows, architectures, and data science pipelines for quantitative and mechanistic pharmacological applications
  • Investigating and testing innovative approaches for integrating domain knowledge with AI/ML techniques
  • Exploring and implementing advanced machine learning and generative AI techniques to address data-driven challenges for continual improvement of quantitative solutions

Basic Qualifications:

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master’s OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship or co-op

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree concentration(s) in Information Technology, Computer Science (e.g., CS, CPE, SE), Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB).
  • Prior experience or coursework in data science/analysis and AI/ML techniques including familiarity with generative AI
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) for running AI/ML models is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI/ML and data science techniques to real-world problems or research projects
  • Familiarity with biological systems, pharmacology, or related scientific fields
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $30 - $40 per hour.
