Responsible investment is a key priority for Columbia Threadneedle Investments, we have over 40 RI experts across investments. The central RI team is made up of 16 people and we are looking for an analyst to join this global team. The central RI team is responsible for managing the business’ RI strategy, firm-wide commitments, specialist RI funds as well as support for clients and their RI needs. We have a Responsible Engagement Overlay (reo) service we launched in 2000 where we provide engagement and voting services to clients. We currently have over 50 global clients to this reo service.

We are looking to hire someone who will provide support to the Responsible Investment team within Columbia Threadneedle Investments, an Ameriprise Financial company. The role will require supporting the organisation's ESG data deliverables for clients and investment teams, monitoring and authenticating key ESG data metrics, and supporting key reporting and disclosures. Part of the role will be to assist with providing data and updating presentations for reo clients. It will be a generalist role supporting the Responsible Investment team across several areas that are key to ESG such as engagement, voting, sustainability, climate metrics etc. The individual may also support the development, articulation, and enablement of Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Responsible Investments team members to undertake data reconciliations, run data outputs and assist with internal and external auditing processes. This includes data analysis and gathering insights.
  • Support the RI team to review reporting deliverables and uploading required information to the central database (currently Salesforce).
  • Triage and action ad hoc data requests for external stakeholders, such as regulators and prospective clients.
  • Identify and support resolution of errors in Salesforce dataset, including development of data control processes with the Responsible Investment and relevant technology teams.  
  • Assist with client portal management (currently Salesforce) to help onboard new users and provide guidance to existing clients.
  • Support maintenance of data and data system integrity to both extract information and provide insights, including data sourcing, architecture, and systems used to collect data.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including data science & technology, to help enhance existing processes and procedures.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Engineering/Mathematics/Business Management or any related fields.
  • 1 – 3 years of relevant experience in data analytics or product support. Additional experience of working with or certification in ESG fields will be preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills (needs to effectively work and stay in touch with global colleagues across different business units).
  • Outstanding analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage, and interpret large amounts of data.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, CRM (ideally Salesforce) and Sharepoint.
  • Some knowledge and interest in further developing skillset in SQL and/or Python.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to track and manage multiple deliverables with various process steps and tight deadlines.
  • Team player and collaborative, but can also work autonomously, both with a critical focus on ensuring consistent high quality delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VBA and macros in Excel, including updating and editing existing tools.
  • Experience with, or interest in, Power Automate or other similar automation and workflow management programming.
  • Keen interest in ESG and experience in asset management.
