Data is one of the foundations of ING’s strategy to become one digital bank and Data Operations is the place to operationalize and execute our data strategy. As the Global Head of Data Management Operations, you will be part of Data Operations and will be one of the key components to deliver on its purpose “to amplify the power of data” for ING.

Global Data Management Operations function is responsible for operationalization of Data Governance & Data Protection strategy and translation of Data Governance & Data Protection policies and standards into global and local procedures and design of the corresponding services. It is responsible for the roll-out and implementation of Data Governance and Data Protection initiatives globally & in the local domains. VIP sessions per MBB-1 executive and Data Domain Councils for data domains are prepared and facilitated by the Data Management Operations teams across the globe.

Global Head of Data Management Operations is the person who holds ultimate responsibility for the Data Protection Operations and Data Governance Operations services delivered by the circles across the globe and derives crystal-clear objectives from the strategy while continuously checking these objectives against changing market conditions.

What you will do: 

• Sets operations strategy for Data Governance and Data Protection, based on the overall data Strategy and COO vision and strategy.
• Lead the teams of Data Governance Operations and Data Protection Operations globally including head office, local domains and hubs (all business lines)
• Translate strategy into procedures and services that will be delivered to stakeholders across the globe
• Define the global operating model for Data Governance Operations and Data Protection Operations and strives for delivering robust, standardized services to our global stakeholders making sure they are operated seamless.
• Work on standardization and centralization of our data management operations efforts across the globe and maximize the principles of digitalization to ensure our human efforts are focused on improving our client experience.
• Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the Data Governance & Protection strategy and business plan globally and in local domains; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values.
• Optimize our workforce across teams and locations
• Closely collaborate with Data Management leads on Data Governance and Protection strategy and PCS design, compliancy and roll-out in the countries
• Make sure the circles are doing the right things right, i.e. are competent and capable and focus on the right priorities in order to achieve their goals
• Accountable for continuous development of expertise across the Super Circle and alignment with Circle Leads on the personal development of the individual CLT members
• Manage the global backlog for Data Management Operations

What are we looking for: 

• Academic Master’s degree (MSc)
• 15+ years professional experience in operations/banking/business consultancy
• Proficient understanding of ING Data Protection an Data Governance strategy
• International experience in multiple segments and locations
• Proficient in designing global operating models and rolling out to countries
• Familiarity and experience with ING sourcing framework
• Strong on conceptual thinking and able to execute
• A strong network within the bank and a good understanding of the organisation, strategy and our way of working
• Customer focus and the ability to build trust with senior leadership  
• Strong stakeholder management skills (MBB/MBB-1 level)
• Can demonstrate success in establishing executive relationships and influencing executive decision-making
• Ability to take responsibility, steer strategy and realisations based on facts and data
• Managerial courage to question and make decisions
• Ability to empower teams to act autonomously, think out of the box and hold them accountable
• Ability to simplify complexity and drive operational excellence
• Track record in inspiring leaders to achieve their goals
• Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining highly collaborative, flexible, and productive multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent level of English
• Excellent speech and presentation skills
