  • We are looking for a Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) Software Engineer to join our Data Science & Technology (DST) team.

  • The DST directorate is an energetic multi-disciplinary team of over 60 engineers working collaboratively with internal and external customers to develop novel solutions for data and emerging technology applications.

  • Our team pushes the boundaries of innovation and creativity to establish next-generation mission solutions from system-level up to campaign-level.

  • As a MS&A Software Engineer, you will develop cutting-edge simulation capabilities that will be used to assess system performance across a range of complex mission scenarios.

  • The ideal candidate has experience with Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) activities and understands the trade-offs required to achieve the right level of fidelity when modeling large scale, many-on-many missions.

  • The role requires the individual to be proficient in distributed simulation technologies and well-versed in coding practices and software integration.

What You Will Do

  • Work on challenging problems across a broad portfolio of programs and products.

  • Develop Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) capabilities to support mission-level concept exploration, tactics development, autonomous behaviors, and Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) product development.

  • Develop simulators and emulators for sensors, communications, movement, tactical behaviors, weapon effects, electronic effects, command and control, and others.

  • Partner with product teams to accelerate the development of AI/ML and Mission Autonomy capabilities through modeling and simulation.

  • Work with multi-disciplinary subject matter experts to understand and simulate relevant sub-system, system and system-of-systems dynamics.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM Degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience or an advanced STEM Degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.

  • Experience in Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) engineering or related technical areas, such as, Data Science, Operations Analysis, Behavior Modeling, Predictive Analysis, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Industrial Engineering, etc.

  • Experience in aerospace / aeronautical systems, such as, fixed wing, rockets, satellites, rotorcraft, etc.

  • Experience in multiple compiled and scripted languages, such as, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, etc., Experience with configuration management tools and practices, such as, Bitbucket, Confluence, Jira, etc.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree, such as Masters or Doctorate, in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM Degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with Unreal Engine or other computer graphics engines, experience with 3D modeling standards & tools (Blender, Creator, OpenFlight, etc.)

  • Experience with simulation tools (AFSIM, MAK VR-Forces, Presagis, SIMDIS, OneSAF), Experience with GIS standards & tools (ESRi ArcGIS, Global Mapper, Cesium, CDB, etc.)

  • Experience with RADAR, Electro Optical (EO), and/or Infrared (IR) sensing systems, experience with IEEE 1278 DIS, IEEE 1516 HLA, and/or TENA, experience integrating distributed Live, Virtual, & Constructive (LVC) simulation components.

  • Experience designing and developing AI/ML systems and architectures, Experience in software or system modeling practices (UML, SysML, DoDAF, etc.) Experience in developing software in Windows and Linux Environments.

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
