Following the strategic vision “Rakuten as a data-driven membership company”, we are expanding our data activities across our multiple Rakuten group companies.

We are providing BI serviced to expand “data driven decision culture” by developing data mart environment and BI reports, using centralized data warehouse within Rakuten group.

We would like to improve our service capability in terms of analytics so we opened this position, Data mart Developer.
The position will develop data marts for specific businesses from various service data within Rakuten, and support BI report developers. Work with BI development teams to understand business and performance requirements of business users, design for requirements, and provide developed datamarts to BI developers or business users. There are many business departments in the company, and it is necessary to be able to understand each business structure and requirements.

Position Details

This data mart developer will support BI report developments by developing data marts from Rakuten’s various services’ data.

This role is required to discuss and understand business user’s requirements then needs to provide data mart appropriately to enable BI developer to provide final deliverables of BI reports. The role needs to work with several business units and can experience various type of projects.

Responsibilities:

- Business requirements

For this role there are opportunities to discuss with business users about requirements of BI reports. This role needs to understand requirements and suggest appropriate data mart design to implement the reports

- Design and develop data marts

Based on business requirements, the developer needs to design and develop data marts and their data processes like transforming, joining and summarizing raw data from various data platforms. The user needs to design data marts and data processes with less latency, depending on platforms

- Operations

The developer will need to maintain developed data marts and processes accordingly when some troubles happened or business users requested to refine them

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Minimum 5+ years of logical/physical database design experience (RDBMS, Hive, Spark, BigQuery etc.)

- Minimum 5+ years of SQL development experience (RDBMS, Hive, Spark, BigQuery etc.)

- Minimum 5+ years SQL query performance tuning skill and experience including table design and rewriting queries

- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT systems development (from design to operation) (development platform like GitHub, job scheduling tool etc.)

- 3+ years overall IT work experience

Desired Qualifications:

- Basic knowledge about BI tools like Tableau, Power BI and MicroStrategy etc.

- Experience working with global teams

- Basic business knowledge to understand requirements (accounting, marketing etc.)
