Data is at the core of Optasia growth plan and the Data Engineering team is a significant contributor to Optasia’s success and growth, achieved through data driven insights and decision making.  We are currently leveraging and ingesting data from multiple sources into our large-scale big data clusters and develop and run multiple analytical pipelines, over a state-of-the art big data technology stack. 
We are looking for an experienced Technical Leader in the Data Engineering domain, to lead two teams of seven Data Engineers in total. As Technical Leader you will be able to enrich and further evolve the company’s big data infrastructure, and the highly scalable end-to-end batch and streaming data pipelines, contributing to Optasia’s success. 

What you will do

  • Provide technical expertise and direction in data engineering, guiding the team in selecting appropriate tools, technologies, and methodologies. Stay updated with the latest advancements in data engineering and ensure the team follows best practices and industry standards. 
  • Extensive experience in data engineering, with a deep understanding of data processing frameworks, technologies, and tools such as Hadoop ecosystem, Hive, Scala, Spark, java, Python, scripting (Bash/Python), SQL, S3 etc.  
  • Provide expert advice with respect to configuration management of the company’s big data infrastructure setup and services, limitations, constraints, tools, resources, etc. 
  • Understanding data governance frameworks, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR), and best practices for data protection. Implementing data governance policies and maintaining data integrity and security. 
  • Design, build, test and deploy new libraries, frameworks or full systems for our core systems while keeping to the highest standards of testing and code quality. 
  • Work closely with experienced Data Engineers, Solution Architects, ML engineers and System Administrators for the design, delivery and support of the company’s end-to-end data processing workflows. 
  • Develop, maintain and optimize our core libraries for batch processing and ingestion of large volumes of data to the big data infrastructure. 
  • Build and maintain CI/CD orchestration. 
  • Align coding standards, conduct code reviews to ensure proper code quality level. 

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Informatics
  • 7+ years of experience in Data engineering  
  • Working experience in software/data engineering and/or operations/DevOps/DataOps 
  • Working experience with the Apache Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, HBase, Spark) 
  • Working experience with relational and NoSQL technologies 
  • Systems administration skills in Linux  
  • Experience with the deployment, configuration and maintenance of distributed systems and data/software engineering tools 

Optional requirements (will be considered a plus):

  • Worked extensively in Hadoop / Spark / Spark streaming, HIVE 
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code, e.g. Ansible 
  • Experience with data and ML flow engines and tools, e.g. Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi, Druid 
  • Passion for learning new technologies and eagerness to collaborate with other creative minds. 
  • Experience in working with secure code development guidelines and coding practices (i.e. OWASP, NIST)
