Payments is a key strategic priority for the Group and Business Banking. Ensuring our Data is managed appropriately is key to the overall success in ensuring our products are reliable and resilient for our customers. Data Management as a dedicated function is relatively new to the Payments Domain, this role will focus on maturing and growing this capability.

You will support the implementation and ongoing management and adherence to the Group Data Management Framework within Payments. You will contribute to the development and implementation of procedures and practices to support the strategic goals relating to Data Management & Governance within CBA and in particular Payments.

You are pivotal in the success of Payments meeting its obligations relating to Data Quality, Data Risk Management and other key regulator expectations relating to Data and its management within Payments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to improvement of data literacy, data risk management, data quality; collaborate and contribute to the data community across Business Banking and the group to implement best practice

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their business and use of data; then apply data management framework to support them in identifying critical data elements (CDEs) and capturing sufficient metadata

  • Provide advice on identification of detailed data flow or lineage from point of data capture to point of data consumptions as it traverses from one system to another

  • Undertake assessment of data risks and controls that are in place and their effectiveness. Propose a roadmap to uplift data quality and data controls when gaps are identified

  • Engage with stakeholders to define Data Quality (DQ) Rules and checkpoints for DQ as well as Data Controls to ensure data passing through the checkpoint is assessed for quality

  • Independently manage the work stream and the relationship with stakeholders with escalation to Line Manager as necessary

  • Review Data Quality Issues associated with CDEs, work with stakeholders to understand the root cause of the issues and define remediation plan

 

Your Experience

  • Experience in Data Management including Data Analysis, Business Process and Data Lineage, Data Quality management and monitoring

  • Experience in facilitating and conducting workshops with various business, technical and risk stakeholders to drive outcomes

  • Experience in Data Management including Data Analysis, Business Process and Data Lineage, ETL, Data Quality management and monitoring, Risk and Control Assessment

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Advanced Business Analysis and technical data skills and strong familiarity of data management principles

  • Experience in Data Risk and Control Assessment is highly desirable

  • Experience with Alation or other data governance and data quality tools is highly desirable

  • Excellent Data, Risk and Governance experience

  • Strong understanding of Data Lifecycle, including database structures, data processing & warehouses

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong commercial and technical acumen with a pragmatic approach and passion for problem solving

  • Demonstrated skill and experience in extracting and interpreting complex data through e.g. SQL, tableau

  • Ability to work autonomously and get technical support from various teams across the Group

  • Relevant qualifications in data management disciplines such as risk, compliance, audit, actuarial or analytics

  • Ability to translate technical data concepts into business concepts

  • Experience with Data Risk and Control Assessment (highly desirable)

  • Experience with Data Profiling, Data Quality metric development and build including SQL knowledge (desirable but not mandatory)
