Business Intelligence Engineer  

Salary £30,000 - £45,000

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in developing and maintaining our business intelligence pipelines. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to design innovative data models, write clean and efficient code, and deliver new data features that support our business objectives.

A bit about the job:

Working alongside other Engineers you will be building and maintaining data pipelines into the Claims BI team, creating long lasting data modelling necessary to facilitate reporting and analytics, identifying new data sources, and building out comprehensive data views for your BI colleagues to ingest. You will:

  • Collaborate with and build on the work of Data Engineering to build out a governed, strategic, Claims data asset in Snowflake for use across UKGI Claims

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Aviva IT/Data Engineering to improve the ingestion of 3rd party data, including removing existing manual effort, improving the quality and timeliness of existing feeds as well as setting up the ingestion of new feeds of data

  • Work with data source providers to ensure the delivery of timely and accurate data to our Claims BI colleagues

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Writes clean, maintainable, and robust code in SQL or similar languages

  • Knowledge of data architecture, data warehousing and modelling techniques

  • Communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships, internally and externally

  • Experience working on relational databases e.g. Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, etc or with reporting and BI packages e.g. QlikView, Tableau, Power BI etc

  • Experience in Data Quality Assessment (profiling, anomaly detection) and data documentation (schema, dictionaries)

  • Starting salary between £30,000 - £45,000 depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
