The Data Governance Manager is responsible for the fitness and use of one or more master data dimensions. Working within the GBS Data Office (GDO) & finance business users, the role maintains the quality and integrity of master data though the development and embedding of standards, education of users, and oversight of data management practices. 

 This role will focus on Finance Master Data. Objects will include various aspects of Finance Master data with a particular focus on Product (Including Brand & Therapy Area Master data) to support Planning & Management Reporting (P&MR) & Statutory reporting and in conjunction with R2R and Operations supply chain processes.   

 The role demands Subject Matter Expertise and experience of working within finance processes and systems like DRM, SAP and Hyperion. The successful applicant will also work closely with the S4 Hana programme within AZ which is embarking on a 7-year overhaul of all financial reporting and planning across its finance data & system landscape. 

Typical Accountabilities  

  • Create, own, and maintain documented standards for relevant master data objects. 
  • Act as SME for relevant master data objects to support data design leads, data stewards, project teams and users 
  • Provide oversight and direction for the business users, data stewards and data management teams to ensure standards are embedded and followed. 
  • Provide training, mentoring and support on data standards to business users, data stewards, other participants in the data governance community.  
  • Act as the business owner for the requirements of data quality dashboards and monitoring tools. 
  • Direct initiatives to cleanse and improve data. 
  • Provide an escalation point for exception and compliance decisions. 
  • Inform and educate users via training material and presentations.
  • Update stakeholders via working groups, service reviews and project updates. 
  • Participate in change control processes to provide guidance, oversight, and decision-making. 
  • Participate in project, process, or governance forums as delegate of the data owner.  
  • Organise and run the data object working group. 
  • Maintain the data object issue and risk registers and drive prioritisation, mitigation and resolution with the data object owner and working group. Maintain data object metadata in the data register and data catalogue. 

 Essential 

  • Proven experience of working with Finance master data and systems (SAP,  DRM, & Hyperion Planning & reporting). 
  • Experience in the definition, maintenance, and identification of the value of robust good quality Finance master data 
  • Data Quality Management experience 
  • Strong engagement, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including excellent organisational, presentation and influencing skills.  
  • A ‘Can do’ attitude to understanding data issues, the impact and proactively driving change. 
  • High level of proficiency with common business applications (Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint & SAP business user) 
  • Finance Professional qualification (e.g., CIMA) 

 Desirable 

  • Knowledge of SAP & other financial software 
  • Good understanding of Financial Planning & Reporting.  
  • Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context 
  • Pharmaceutical business awareness/business domain knowledge
