Join Nextdata and Shape the Future of Data!
Nextdata is on a mission to make data mesh principles a reality at enterprise scale. Founded by Zhamak Dehghani, the creator of the Data Mesh, we're pioneering a data-mesh-native platform—Nextdata OS—that empowers developers to share data responsibly through data product containers. We're transforming how data is created, shared, discovered, and used, making it more connected, faster, and fairer than ever before.
Are you passionate about building innovative data solutions and eager to help enterprises revolutionize their data infrastructure? We're seeking a talented Solutions Engineer to join our team. If you have a strong background in data engineering, enjoy working closely with customers, and are excited about the data mesh movement, this is the role for you!

Your Impact

  • Create Data Products on Nextdata OS: Actively build solutions on top of Nextdata OS, translating customer business needs into Proof of Concept (PoC) data products.
  • Collaborate with Customers: Work with our initial customers to understand their business requirements and develop data products that address their needs.
  • Deeply Embed with Customers: Support some of our largest customers in the successful adoption of data mesh, guiding them through the entire journey from data integration to infrastructure optimization.
  • Leverage Full Analytics Lifecycle: Utilize your experience in translating business requirements into data models, data pipelines, analytics dashboards, and machine learning pipelines to build comprehensive data products.
  • Provide Feedback for Improvement: Offer insights to help us enhance Nextdata OS and our tooling based on your hands-on experience.
  • Manage PoC Lifecycle: Oversee the full lifecycle of PoC data products, from ideation around business use cases to successful deployment, including synthesizing realistic data for testing before production deployment.
  • Contribute to Team Growth: Play a key role as we build the Solutions Engineering team, shaping its direction and success.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 7+ years as a Data Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect with experience in customer engagement.
  • Data Modeling and Dashboard Development: Proficient in data modeling and creating dashboards using tools like Looker, Power BI, etc., for demonstration purposes.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Experience with continuous integration and deployment to reduce software lead time, contributing to optimizing build and release processes.
  • Programming Skills: Proficient in Python and/or other programming languages; comfortable with quick prototyping.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Experience with data processing pipeline development; proficiency in tools like Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, dbt, and ML environments like PySpark and Pandas.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Knowledge: Experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Google Cloud, AWS, Azure.
  • Complex Data Pipelines: Experience working on complex data pipelines in large data organizations.
  • Data Application Passion: Curiosity, passion, and experience in applying data in machine learning and analytics applications.

Nice to Haves

  • Data Mesh Understanding: Familiarity with data mesh concepts and implementations.
  • Open Source Contributions: Experience contributing to big data/analytics open-source projects or internal data infrastructure products.
  • End-to-End Solutions: Proven ability to take undefined business problems and build end-to-end data solutions for various stakeholders and clients.
  • Analytical Communication: Ability to quantify the value of analyses, articulate, and present findings in a compelling manner.
  • Test-First Development: Demonstrated commitment to test-first data pipeline development.

Our Benefits

  • We offer a competitive salary and equity, giving you ownership in the company’s future.
  • Premium health, vision, and dental insurance coverage for you and your dependents.
  • Unlimited paid time off for flexibility and balance.
  • $2,000 for your home workspace setup and a company laptop to get started.
About Us
At Nextdata, we believe that decentralization is the key to unlocking the true potential of data. Our flagship product, Nextdata OS, is a data-mesh-native platform designed to tackle the challenges of decentralizing data at enterprise scale. We're pioneering a new way for developers to work with data, enabling them to share it responsibly through data product containers and empowering AI, machine learning, and analytics with decentralized, responsible, and equitable data ownership that transcends organizational, technological, and trust boundaries.
Our vision is to transform the experience of creating, sharing, discovering, and using data by adhering to data mesh principles, making this process more connected, faster, and fairer than ever before. We recognize that the world of data is complex and ever-changing: data models become outdated rapidly; data is owned across different trust boundaries; it's stored on various platforms; used in multiple modes; and data can't protect itself. Previous centralized approaches to data collection, modeling, and governance are not only ineffective but can also be unfair. That's why our technology empowers data developers, users, and owners with a delightful experience, treating data products as first-class primitives with built-in trust—we're reimagining the world of data.
