Our central AI and Data Science team plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's data strategy, fostering AI-driven innovation, and enabling cross-functional data science initiatives. What you’ll do 
 
As the Engineering Manager of Data Science & AI, you will lead a team of data scientists, ML and AI engineers to develop scalable solutions, standards and frameworks. In collaboration with other roles in your function you will serve as the bridge between business needs and data-driven solutions, enabling federated teams to build on shared AI tools and methodologies. This is a leadership role that requires a deep understanding of both data science and AI technologies, as well as the ability to manage a team working on innovation and high-impact initiatives. 
 
These are your key responsibilities in the position: 
 

  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, ML and AI engineers 
  • Support the development of data science and AI strategies, ensuring alignment between central objectives and federted data hubs 
  • Lead the the team in designing scalable data science models and AI solutions that can be leveraged across various business units in a federated system, enabling data-driven decision-making. 
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand business problems, define and contribute to data science roadmaps, and develop tailored solutions that drive value. 
  • Establish and standardize best practices in data science methodologies, from data cleaning and feature engineering to model validation and deployment. 
  • Collaborate with federated teams to define or build reusable data science tools and frameworks that can be shared and adapted across different domains. 
  • Champion innovation in the data science space, promoting knowledge-sharing, experimentation, and the adoption of the latest techniques in AI and machine learning. 

 

What you’ll bring 
 
We are looking for you who has a genuine interest in people, data and tech. You are comfortable in leading through ambiguity and are empowering your team to act and learn in uncertain and complex environments. 
 
You should have demonstrated leadership in mentoring data scientists and fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning as well as strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data science concepts into actionable insights for business stakeholders as well as working with technical teams. 
 

You also have 
 

  • Experience (7+ years) in data science, machine learning, or AI engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial role. 
  • Relevant technical expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning algorithms. 
  • Experience managing data science teams and leading projects in a federated or decentralized data environment, balancing autonomy with alignment to central strategies. 
  • Experience of data science processes including data wrangling, feature selection, model development, and performance tuning. 
  • Understanding of deploying machine learning models on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and familiarity with MLOps principles. 

 
 

Location: Gothenburg or Stockholm. We have a hybrid work setting where we expect you to be a couple of days a week in the office
