About the role

The role focuses on our Reinsurance Property Treaty business and entails generating data insights on the global Property Treaty portfolio to support the monitoring and steering needs of the Property Re CUO. The role includes developing new analytics to further drive our understanding of underlying portfolio performance drivers. This requires a deep understanding of Swiss Re's underwriting data landscape, reporting tools and systems.

You will perform quantitative analyses using portfolio data to monitor its development, identify trends and generate new insights to answer either recurring or specific senior management requests. You will closely work with Property Treaty Centre colleagues to formulate conclusions and recommendations based on your analyses.

You will primarily interact with Underwriting Transformation, Finance, and Capacity Management teams.

About the team

We are a knowledgeable and business-focused team with currently 6 members located in a number of offices across the world. The team is hosted in the Reinsurance Property CUO unit and has three areas of responsibility: (1) Maintain actuarial models and support costing of complex business, (2) shape Swiss Re's position on critical underwriting topics and handle referrals, and (3) steer the portfolio including smartly allocating underwriting capacity.

Ultimately, we ensure that the P&C Reinsurance Business Unit builds a resilient Property Treaty portfolio. We proactively steer the dialogue on underwriting topics requiring a global view.

 

About you

Experience

  • Overall, 7 to 8 years in Data Science & Underwriting experience - Min of 3 years in Data Science
  • Strong understanding of underwriting, reserving, claims and finance data
  • Strong command of PowerBI and programming in Python, R and SQL languages.
  • Quantitative and analytical background, and excellent problem-solving skills
