What you will do

Role Overview:

Global Energy Management (GEM) is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Analyst to advance our power market analysis and intelligence capabilities. As an integral part of the GEM US team, the Analyst will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and processing market-relevant data to support the team in the active scheduling of generation assets, congestion bidding, proprietary trading, and hedging activities. The Analyst will also support the development of existing ML models, monitor market trends, and collaborate with the GEM US team to develop analytical tools and trading strategies.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain energy management applications with SQL, Power BI, Python, and other programming languages.
  • Create ad-hoc reports and data process to improve energy market analytics and business requirements of other teams
  • Develop and maintain databases to collect all relevant GEM data, ensuring its integrity and ease of access for reporting, performing ad-hoc analyses and distribution as needed (intranet and/or mobile)
  • Build, maintain, and improve the group’s Power BI dashboards, using APIs and Python, to transform data into information that monitors group performance to make more informed market decisions.
  • Integrate data using web-scraping, APIs, and other 3rd party data providers into Market Operations' internal data systems and tools.
  • Additional duties as required

What are we looking for

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in a STEM field; Computer Science and or Programming preferred
  • 0 -2 years
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Proficient knowledge of SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS),  Power BI, Python;  R and MATLAB are a plus
  • Proven ability to program in Visual Basic
  • Experience in computer sciences, developing automation, or machine learning is a plus.
  • Strong desire to be challenged and take ownership of your work.

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment 
  • Speech/Reading:  Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form 
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds  
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form 
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
