Role Overview

The objective of the internship is to participate in the exploration and development of advanced data-driven solutions (machine learning) to complex challenge.

You will join a team working in Scrum methodology and dedicated to data-driven solutions.

Your missions

You will be able to perform various tasks illustrating all phases of data-driven software development:

1) Learn

• Discover the Amadeus business models, our solutions to power them and the key challenges the industry faces around security, privacy and legal mandates.

• Get familiar with our BI platform (hybrid cloud solution relying mainly on Apache Spark on Kubernetes) and the data we collect today (several terabytes per day).

• Choose the preferred challenges to address in the next phases.

2) Explore

• With the help of our data engineering team, select and extract a light dataset to explore.

• Transform this light dataset and analyse it through BI and data science techniques (e.g. statistics, clustering algorithms).

• Together with functional experts, interpret the results and propose high level approaches to solve the chosen challenges.

• Define Key Performance Indicators which will be used to evaluate the success of the solutions.

3) Experiment

• Design and develop prototypes for the chosen approaches through different machine learning techniques / algorithms locally.

• Review and benchmark results both from a scientific and a business points of view.

• Decide which techniques and algorithms to implement on a larger dataset.

4) Implement

• Adapt the solutions to a live, big data environment.

• Implement on our staging environment the data transformation and machine learning algorithms required for the solution.

• Assess and measure the technical performances, quality and stability of the end-to-end solution with a larger, continuously evolving dataset.

• Validate the business results against the key performance indicators.

Your Profile

We are looking for tech-passionate students in computer science with strong English skills. Ideal candidates have experience or knowledge in software development and are familiar with technologies like Python, Spark, Jupiter Notebooks, R, etc... Knowledge of Agile methodology is a plus.
