What can you expect during your internship?
As an Integration Specialist intern within the IT Service team, you’ll be part of a strategic business transformation project to enhance Viking’s integration and customization processes. In this role, you’ll be responsible for integrating different software systems to ensure seamless data flow across platforms. You’ll collaborate with the development team to customize integrations and troubleshoot issues, while leveraging your technical expertise to streamline operations.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Design and develop integrations between various software systems
  • Customize integrations based on specific client requirements
  • Ensure seamless data flow between systems
  • Test and troubleshoot integrations to ensure optimal performance
  • Document design and implementation procedures for future reference
  • Support the development and project management teams with integration of software systems
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in software integration

 

Sub-Project: Improving Integration Customization Processes
As part of this internship, you’ll lead a sub-project focused on improving data integration processes. The objective is to analyze, design, and implement improvements in integration customization processes, aiming to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability. these processes. Key activities include:

  1. Current State Analysis
    • Review existing integration customization processes
    • Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and common issues
    • Gather feedback from stakeholders involved in integration customization
  2. Research and Benchmarking
    • Research industry best practices for integration customization
    • Benchmark current processes against industry standards
    • Identify tools and technologies to enhance the customization process
  3. Process Redesign
    • Develop a detailed plan to redesign integration processes
    • Propose new workflows, tools, and methodologies
    • Create documentation and process maps for the redesigned processes
  4. Automation and Tool Development
    • Identify repetitive tasks for automation
    • Develop scripts or tools to automate these tasks
    • Test and validate the effectiveness of the automation tools
  5. Pilot Implementation
    • Implement the redesigned processes in a controlled environment
    • Monitor the pilot and identify areas for improvement
    • Collect performance data for evaluation
  6. Evaluation and Reporting
    • Analyse pilot results and compare them to existing processes
    • Prepare a detailed report with recommendations and next steps
  7. Stakeholder Presentation
    • Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders
    • Provide training and support for the new processes and tools
    • Gather feedback and make necessary adjustments

 

Who are we looking for?

  • You are a 3rd year Bachelor student studying Computer Science, IT, or a related field
  • You have excellent spoken and written English skills. German/Dutch would be advantageous
  • You have a strong technical background in programming languages such as Python/JavaScript
  • You possess excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • You can work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Informatica is preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud-based systems like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is an advantage
  • You are available fulltime from February 2025 for ~5 months
