Ads Brain team is a technology core of Microsoft rapidly growing digital advertising business. The team’s mission is to create room & horsepower for large scale deep learning applications in Microsoft Ads and beyond.

 

We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer interested in deep learning systems and algorithms.

 

This role is available in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA.

 

The team is responsible for applying large scale deep learning technologies to improve our advertising business, including resource management of tens of thousands of powerful GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit) and billions of tokens of various OpenAI LLM (Large Language Models), driving large scale deep learning applications, serving online real-time (millisecond level) GPU model serving, model performance optimization, high throughput deep learning pipeline etc. We have a unique position in bridging state-of-art GPU & Deepl Learning technologies with business-critical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Innovations to advance deep learning systems and algorithms.
  • Identify new and upcoming areas for improvement by interacting with potential external and internal collaborators.
  • Drive cutting-edge system prototypes and assist in preparation for production deployment.
  • Discover/solve impactful technical problems, advance state-of-the-art technologies, and translate ideas into production.
  • Leverage cutting-edge open-source project to advance deep learning applications.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding using C++ or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in deep learning framework (e.g., PyTorch, OnnxRuntime, vLLM, TensorRT-LLM) mechanism and implementation.

Other Requirements:

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C++ or Python
  • 1+ year(s) experiences in GPU/CUDA programming.
  • Experience in Architecting, design, coding, debugging, and problem analysis and solving skills.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
