Job Profile Summary:

The Manager, Analytics is a key leader in the organization, supporting operations and strategy through collaborative problem-solving, research and analysis, and analytics management. This individual must have proven analytical skills, extensive knowledge of business unit data, experience enabling and advising management and leadership, and be adept at collaborating within a matrixed organization.

The Manager, Analytics will have experience leading and developing a team with skills in mentoring other analysts and leading analytical projects that require cross-functional participation. The Manager, Analytics is a strategic thinker and a results-driven, data-minded, detail-oriented, highly organized team player who can work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of analytical insights to the key stakeholders across the University for matters relating to WGU On-Ramps and Certificates. Due to the high impact and visibility of the team’s work, this role must be able to contribute to strategic discussions and data-driven decisions quickly and thoughtfully, and thus play a critical role in student success.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of data analysts regarding analytics deliverables.
  • Conduct business and inferential analytics that drive the organization forward in terms of knowledge and impact
  • Partner with key stakeholders and leaders to understand their business challenges and opportunities, craft analytical solutions, and enable their teams to understand critical performance indicators and trends.
  • Delegate work assignments and help ensure proper bandwidth allocation across team members.
  • Provide mentorship and support to direct reports (i.e., project prioritization).
  • Develop a training and development framework to ensure continual team growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional analytics teams and individuals, supporting initiatives from other groups and driving participation and understanding of key initiatives.
  • Present to key audiences regarding high-impact and high-visibility projects. Contribute value to strategic discussions by communicating team insights to inspire data-driven decisions.
  • Present data-related research and analysis to leadership to increase understanding of performance indicators, explain historical and anticipated performance, and identify challenges and opportunities.
  • Partner with research vendor partnerships and development of internal market research and insights.
  • Collaborate with leaders on strategic planning, supporting both department and university initiatives with data, insight, and recommendations.
  • Exercise judgment and creativity in determining how to achieve results within defined policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Skilled at managing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects, meeting deadlines, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Proven experience participating in and collaborating with cross-functional teams and personalities successfully.
  • Ability to develop and lead a fast-paced, dynamic team.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with testing design, regression, tracking, and interpreting results.
  • Results-oriented, with the ability to deliver results through strong team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes, data architecture, and data warehouse concepts.
  • Strong grasp of statistical concepts and tools and experience with advanced analytics.
  • Advanced ability to interpret data analytics and statistical results, determine strategic significance, and effectively present results to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Higher Ed data sources: IPEDS, National Clearinghouse, Burning Glass, and EMSI.
  • Experience utilizing outreach data and systems, which may include Google Adwords, Adobe Analytics, Salesforce CRM, Dun & Bradstreet, Customer Data Platforms, and Audience Research tools

  • Will be expected to complete assignments that are technical in manner in addition to supervising others.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Data Analytics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field of study
  • 5 years of experience with both quantitative and qualitative data with solid abilities in synthesizing data and simplifying complex data and analysis into key findings and recommendations
  • Willingness to relocate to Salt Lake City, Utah

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Data Analytics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
  • 3-5 years of analytical, and technical experience, including skills in data wrangling, data cleansing, and writing code in SQL, Python, R, and Databricks
  • Expertise in utilizing data to understand root causes, trends, and opportunities. 
  • Experience with Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI, Databricks
  • Prior experience in educational technology or related field.
  • Prior leadership experience

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:
 

Pay Range: $91,800.00 - $151,400.00
