Nordstrom Data and AI Platform Product team is seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead our Data Product Hub and Data Democratization initiatives.

As a Senior Product Manager for Data Democratization, you will obsess over identifying, defining, and addressing the needs and pain points across all data user archetypes within Nordstrom. You will be responsible for defining and executing the product strategy, driving the development of data platform tools, standards, governance, infrastructure that ensures data accessibility and usability across the organization.

Your data democratization platform will deliver a simple centralized technology-agnostic ingress and usability. Your product roadmap will keep pace with industry leading technology and AI capabilities that services batch-centric and real-time event-streaming service needs or both users and enterprise applications. You will actively partner with Gen-AI agents, assistants, orchestrators and maintain an active test-and-learn experimentation pipeline in collaboration with numerous internal stakeholders across Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Governance stakeholders, Analytics and BIE teams and all spectrum of data users including business users and leaders.

 The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of defining product vision, strategy on foundational data delivery products with excellent customer research, journey mapping, hypothesis and opportunity mapping, problem definition skills. Success, in this role will need a strong collaborator with demonstrable experience in building strong relationships with a very wide cross-functional set of stakeholders and commanding leadership presence who can bring the best solutions to our customers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy and Vision:
    • Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategy for the Data Product Hub.
    • Champion data democratization efforts to ensure data is accessible, understandable, and actionable for all users.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data management and product development.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Insights Delivery, Business Intelligence teams, Data Science, Dev Ops, as well as with key data user personas across all functional teams including Digital, Customer, Marketing, Merchandizing, Finance, Supply Chain, HR, and Store Operations, to understand their data needs and challenges.
    • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to drive alignment and support for data initiatives.
  • Product Development:
    • Lead the development and enhancement of the Data Product Hub, ensuring it meets user needs and supports Nordstrom’s strategic goals. Drive the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and ongoing optimization.
    • Prioritize features and improvements based on user feedback, business impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Data Governance and Security:
    • Work closely with data governance and security teams to ensure data integrity, compliance, and security are maintained.
    • Develop policies and best practices for meta-data management, data usage and sharing.
  • User Education and Enablement:
    • Drive initiatives to improve data literacy across the organization, including training programs and self-service tools.
    • Advocate for intuitive user interfaces and experiences that enhance data accessibility.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of data democratization efforts.
    • Regularly report on progress and outcomes to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on data products or data platforms.
  • 2 + years of direct product ownership and proven track record of successfully launching and managing data products.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of data engineering – including data warehousing, managing, and analyzing data, SQL, critical thinking, and basic understanding of Machine Learning.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data governance, and data analytics.
  • Strong understanding of GCP services, data management principles, data governance, and data analytics (Dataplex, Dataproc, BigQuery, Spanner, Pub/Sub, Looker & Vertex AI) or equal competitive products from Databricks, AWS (S3, Data Lake, Redshift etc.) or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong domain expertise in cloud-based data systems and real-time data processing a significant plus, along with experience in exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets to produce innovative solutions for business partners.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a passion for leveraging data to drive business outcomes.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and product management tools.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $120,500 - $220,500 Annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
