Team OCTAVE solves JKH’s most intractable problems across industry verticals by building pipelines using Python and Azure data factory to work on one of the country’s richest data lakes, building and implementing complex machine learning algorithms that will impact millions of Sri Lankans.

 

Role Description

We are looking for a talented UI/UX Engineer with a strong understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as a good understanding of front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, SASS/SCSS, and JavaScript.

If you have a passion for creating intuitive and visually appealing designs, with a little knowledge of JavaScript and ReactJS as an added advantage, you might be the one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and user needs.
  • Design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for web and mobile applications using Figma, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Ensure designs are user-centred, accessible, and meet high standards of usability.
  • Develop UI components and ensure consistent design patterns across all platforms.
  • Implement UI designs in collaboration with the development team using HTML, CSS, SASS/SCSS.
  • Optimize designs for a seamless user experience across different devices and platforms.
  • Conduct user research, analyze feedback, and iterate designs for continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest UI/UX trends, tools, and technologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in design tools: Figma, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Strong UI/UX Concepts: Solid understanding of user-centered design, wireframing, prototyping, and usability.
  • Front-end Technologies: Experience with HTML, CSS, SASS/SCSS.
  • JavaScript Knowledge: Basic knowledge of JavaScript is a plus.
  • ReactJS Experience: Experience with ReactJS is a strong advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and effectively communicate design ideas.

Nice to Have:

  • Understanding on visualization tools such as PowerBi, and Tableau will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience designing for responsive web and mobile applications.

  • Ability to work well in agile environments and diverse teams with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong drive to learn and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex analytical and technical content.
