Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Associate Data Engineer on the Data & Analytics Platforms team. This is a position within our Enterprise Data & Analytics organization. The role will align to Dow's Design Your Day approach and allows employees to work remotely but will also require onsite work based on project work and role needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance from our IT Hub in Mumbai (IN) at a frequency to be agreed upon by the employee and their leader. 

As an Associate Data Engineer specializing in data and analytics solutions, you will work with a cross-functional team whose objective is to deliver solutions that drive business value for Dow. The Associate Data Engineer will focus on ingestion / persistence / curation of data as defined by specific projects.  They will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to:             

  • Create data pipelines for projects in the Azure environment.  

  • Develop, test, and implement analytic and reporting solutions. This includes the curation and ingestion of data from different source systems.

  • Ingests, transforms and stores clean and enriched data ready for analytics consumption.

  • Supports data platforms and data processing capabilities.

  • Supports infrastructure systems (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes).

  • Prepares and manipulates data using code or pipeline tools such as Azure Data Factory.

  • Supports existing data solutions at scale.

Responsibilities                                        

  • Development and deployment of solutions enabling data ingestion, storage, and consumption across Dow's enterprise data platforms (Azure based). 

  • Develop and deploy scalable and efficient data processing pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other relevant technologies. 

  • Support Senior & Lead Data Engineer roles to collaborate with data scientists and analysts to support their data needs. 

  • Continuously monitor, test, and improve data architecture and performance. 

  • Deployment of Azure services using Infrastructure as Code and Azure DevOps.

Qualifications                         

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant data platform experience (data ingestion, pipeline orchestration).

  • One or more years of relevant experience in Databricks technology.

  • Recent experience designing and deploying in Microsoft Azure’s Environment.

  • A degree discipline in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other Engineering Disciplines.  

  • Proficiency in Python and PySpark able to write and execute complex queries to perform curation and build views required by end users single and multi dimensional.

  • Experience in Databricks Data engineering Job Runs Data Ingestion and Delta Live Tables.

  • Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes. 

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with big data technologies such as Spark and Hive. 

  • Knowledge of various cloud services from Microsoft Azure. 

  • Experience with Azure data services, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Python (other programming language). 

  • Multi-application and cross-platform design experience. 

  • Understanding of data lakehouse platform design and workflows.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of and Experience with Data modeling.  

  • Knowledge of and Experience with Pipelining (data and MLOps).  

  • Knowledge of Data Ingestion and ELT with various workflows that include stream and batch processing, as well as structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.  

  • Knowledge of and Experience with DevOps / DataOps / MLOps.

  • Knowledge of and Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., scripting, ADF). 

  • Concepts of Data architecting.  

  • General understanding of digital industry trends.  

  • This is generally considered an early to mid-career position, typically someone with 1-3 years of industry experience.                             

  • Ability to thrive in challenging situations and solve complex problems. 

  • Interested about emerging technologies with the ability to quickly learn and exploit cutting edge offerings to achieve business objectives. 

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
