Your Role:

As a leading science and technology company, we are committed to harnessing data to drive better customer outcomes. In this role, you will be part of the Life Science Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE), a global team of data and analytics experts.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Life Science Analytical Center of Excellence (ACE). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, and thought leadership, with a passion for driving business outcomes through innovative data solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Project Execution:

  • Lead and guide technical teams in developing and implementing end-to-end Data & Analytics (D&A) products, including data engineering and visualization in our D&A platforms such as Palantir Foundry, Tableau, and AWS.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of independence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical implementations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Support Product Owners (POs) in estimating development efforts, timelines, and resources.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring successful project completion by introducing necessary quality gates and release management.
  • Design data models for use cases, ensuring they meet business requirements and are scalable.

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical to understand and translate business requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with data engineers, product owners, and solution architects

Ownership & Maintenance:

  • Take ownership of developed solutions, ensuring ongoing maintenance and optimization.
  • Implement end-to-end data solutions, emphasizing code review and quality checks.
  • Collaborate with teams to delegate technical tasks, address issues, implement enhancements, and optimize code performance.
  • Help engineers design code modules that ensure long-term maintainability through adherence to best-in-class software design principles.
  • Ensure engineers adhere to defined standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive code reviews, offering detailed and constructive feedback to enhance code quality.

Mentoring & Training:

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices.
  • Act as a trainer and mentor to the engineering team, identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of peer review and support within the team.
  • Coach team members, fostering collaboration and a learning environment.

 

Skill Requirements: 

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field (math, statistics, computer science, data & analytics).
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining data and analytics applications at enterprise scale.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Proficiency in PySpark and Git version control is a must.
  • Experience with any data and analytics platforms like Palantir Foundry, Databricks, and others.
  • Good knowledge of any one of the cloud services like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Good experience with tools for data modeling, warehousing, business intelligence, and databases (e.g. Tableau, Python, Hadoop, SAS, Business Objects, ORACLE, and Hive).
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Experience in designing and developing products in an agile product development environment through proper modularization and packaging.
  • Experience working with unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data.

 

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with AI and Gen AI concepts.
  • Experience working with ERP data tables (SAP or Oracle).
  • Familiarity with Tableau, Snowflake or any other similar tool is a plus.
  • Knowledge how to use REST APIs
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/ typescript, and basic design/visual competency is a plus.
