What this position entails

The Milliman IntelliScript suite of software products provides intelligent analysis of prescription histories, medical claims, and other data. The Solutions Consulting team focuses on designing, executing, and delivering proof of concept studies that highlight the value proposition of our products, mainly for life insurance underwriting. The Emerging Health Innovations team focuses on augmenting our current product offerings, currently working to incorporate EHR as a new data set into existing solutions. Acting as a liaison between the two teams, the Senior Data Analyst will need to collaborate with clinicians, actuaries, data analysts, and other internal team members. Main responsibilities include EHR data cleaning, aggregation, and interpretation, assessing its value in risk assessment with other data sources, and creating study deliverables. Additional responsibilities include internal research and internal process improvement.

  What you’ll be doing

  • Transform, analyze, and interpret clinical datasets from sources such as EHR, medical claims, and pharmacy claims
  • Work with external and internal clients to execute high quality deliverables that effectively meet their goals and showcase the value of our products
  • Design a study process to highlight the value of incorporating EHR into existing interpretation solutions
  • Creative problem-solving using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to organize and analyze information
  • Build, automate, and/or improve internal processes through tools through PowerBI, Databricks, programming languages, or other approaches
  • Balance numerous projects/tasks with varying deadlines and difficulty without sacrificing quality of work

What we need

  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor/master’s degree in informatics, computer science, mathematics, or other major with quantitative course work
  • Strong background in common data analysis tools and platforms (SQL server, Python, Excel, PowerBI)
  • Proficient working with modern cloud-native platforms and languages (AWS, Databricks) 
  • Experience evaluating the value of clinical data from a mortality or morbidity risk assessment

      Wish list

      • Experience in software-as-a-service and/or insurance underwriting industry
      • Experience with Jira or other project management software
      • Experience in working with clinical ontologies (SNOMED, ICD-10, CPT, etc.), health interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, USCDI), and clinical data (CCDs/XML, FHIR/JSON, PDF/TIFF)
      • Familiarity with conducting clinical analysis for individuals, cohorts, or populations, supporting initiatives in Population Health, MIPS, MACRA, ACO (Accountable Care), and Risk Planning

      Location

      This job posting is expected to close on January 15, 2025. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events.

      The salary range is $55,000 - $131,000, depending on relevant factors, including but not limited to education, skills, certifications, and location. If relevant experience is less than 4 years, the range would be $55,000 - $109,000; for experience of greater than 4 years, the range would be $67,000 - $131,000. In addition, we offer a performance-based bonus plan, profit sharing, and generous benefits.
