This role offers the opportunity for a skilled, passionate and curious Data Engineer to be involved in the development of new capabilities within EML and to grow their own skillset in data requirements for modern AI and analytics tasks.

The role works with staff in the Predictive Analytics and AI teams on the development and delivery of new analytics and AI products to EML’s third-party claims management and specialised insurer operations.''
 

This will be a permanent, full-time position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home.
 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing and building data processes and assets for structured and unstructured data used in analytics, machine learning, NLP and AI tasks (including data pipeline development, data cleaning, transformation and integration, database management).
  • Documenting and maintaining data processes and assets to optimise performance and ensure security and compliance.
  • Collaborating with data science and AI-focused staff on requirement gathering, design, testing and implementation for necessary infrastructure and tools.
  • Contributing to innovation and improvement of EML’s data infrastructure.
     

ABOUT YOU

  • 3+ years’ experience in a data engineer role designing and building engineering solutions to meet business requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of and experience with Azure-based data engineering and analytics tools (e.g. Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics).
  • Solid understanding of and hands on experience with data querying and programming languages and tools, including SQL and Python.
  • Excellent understanding of data ingestion, processing, storage and architecture.
  • University degree in Computer Science or similar is preferred but other relevant computing, technology or quantitative-based areas will also be considered.
